Resources

There are literally thousands of organizations devoted to helping you live longer and better.  It can be overwhelming and daunting to sort through all of them.  Here are some of the best sources (in alphabetical order) we've found to take control of your health, eating habits, and life.  Poke around and learn.  We've also included some links to inspire, amaze, intrigue, and support.

Angels:

~ Wikipedia's "Angel" page is full of fascinating information!  Start here if you're intrigued by angels and are eager to learn more.

~ Angels Online is an open website which invites people around the world to contribute their angel encounters, spiritual awakenings, self discoveries, and healing miracles.  If you are looking for inspiration and a sense of "I am not alone," look no further.

~ Corporate Angel Network's sole mission is to help cancer patients access the best possible treatment for their specific type of cancer by arranging free travel to treatment across the country using empty seats on corporate jets.  Now that's an awesome organization!

~ "Carla's Angels" is the place to go for lovely Guardian Angel pins. You can also work with Carla to design a custom angel pin, earrings, tie tack, or necklace of your loved one, at no charge. Each pin symbolizes the special qualities of your special angel.

Cancer:

~ MyCancerPlace is "the only place to join a community of people with cancer, share information, give and receive support, and learn from the experience of others."

Food:

~ Food Matters: You are what you eat.  An amazing wake up call for all of us, this film and its website return us to our roots, give us the simple tools and resources to eat/live well, and show us the reality of the food industry that drives our lives and controls our lifestyles.  If you want an easy-to-navigate starting point for optimum health, go there.

~ Dr. Joel Fuhrman, author of many books including "Eat to Live," was the basis for Joe Cross' "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead." Joe's journey from an overweight, unhealthy, at-the-end-of-his-rope man to a vital, vibrant, healthy one is incredibly inspiring. You can see it for free! Once you see the film, you will be moved to change.

~ Vital Farms' pasture-raised, organic, ethical eggs are the only eggs we eat!  Why?  Because we enjoy eggs that are produced from hens that live outside, with plenty of space to roam and forage, and eat only top quality organic feed.  They call their hens their "Girls" and do all they can to give them personal attention and care.

~ Chef Teton's "Essential Cuisine" transforms raw, fresh, delicious food into culinary masterpieces! If you are a "visual learner," you will get a thorough and well balanced foundation of the principles of eating well and eating raw with her DVDs.  Susan's extensive resume of accomplishments would fill this entire page!  Suffice it to say, she is one of the cornerstones of healthy eating and living.

~ Center for Environmental Therapeutics is a nonprofit organization formed by doctors and researchers for the advancement of environmental therapies, rather than medication.

Good Books:

"Butterfly Kisses and Wishes on Wings—When someone you love has cancer… a hopeful, helpful book for kids" is a listen-to or read-aloud book for children. It is a resource that can be used to educate and support any child who is facing the cancer of a loved one. The story, as told through the eyes of a child, lends itself to a simple and clear understanding of cancer. The illustrations were created by artist and cancer survivor, Nanci Hersh.  As children follow the wings of the butterfly throughout the story, they  begin to realize the power they have to be an active and integral part of a loved one's cancer journey.  Now, also available in Spanish.  Visit www.butterflykissesbook.com for more details and additional resources.
